Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital is seeking a Full-time General Maintenance Worker to perform a range of maintenance tasks across buildings and grounds. You will handle electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and preventive maintenance, with on-site safety as a priority.

The role supports hospital operations on the 2nd shift, 40 hours per week, and offers growth opportunities within the Tufts Medicine system. High school diploma and basic maintenance experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of building maintenance experience preferred.
• On-the-job training in one or more building trades.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical repairs (switches, ballasts, motors).
• Do plumbing tasks (drains, fixtures, rodding).
• Do minor carpentry (doors, shelving, locks).
• Repair plaster, brickwork or concrete; weld as needed.
• Provide preventative maintenance on hospital equipment and systems.
• Repair hospital beds and related equipment per manuals.
