Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, part of Tufts Medicine, seeks a facilities maintenance technician to perform general maintenance across hospital buildings and grounds, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC related tasks.

This is a full-time night-shift role (Tuesday-Saturday) at 585 Lebanon St, Melrose, MA 02176, offering competitive pay, benefits, tuition reimbursement, and free parking.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• On the job training in one or more building trades.

Responsibilities

• Electrical repairs (switches, ballasts, motors).
• Plumbing (drains, fixtures, rodding).
• Minor carpentry (doors, shelving, locks).
• Repairs to plaster, brickwork or concrete; soldering/welding as needed.
• Preventative maintenance on hospital equipment and systems.
• Inspect and repair patient electrical and mechanical beds and equipment.
• Check lighting in buildings and fixtures; replace bulbs as needed.
• Ensure hospital systems function (power, HVAC, medical gas, steam boiler).
• Replace defective equipment and procure parts.
• Inspect and repair safety equipment throughout the hospital.
• Clean workshop and equipment; handle hazardous materials safely.
• Support snow removal and sanding; assist other staff with repairs.
• Perform projects to maintain or improve Plant operations.
