Job summary

East Hawaii Region of Hawai`i Health Systems Corporation seeks a Building Maintenance Worker I to perform skilled maintenance, repair, and upkeep of hospital buildings and facilities. The role spans multiple trades to maintain a safe, functional environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities include inspections, preventive maintenance, supervising helpers, and executing repairs to structures and equipment, including electrical systems. Work is on site with long shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Four years of experience performing a variety of building maintenance and repair work.
• Experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and level of responsibility to independently perform skilled maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

• Regularly inspects Building and Grounds of the campus to locate repairs and maintenance needs.
• Oversees preventive maintenance for facilities, equipment, and vehicles as scheduled.
• Supervises helper level workers, providing monitoring, training, and guidance.
• Performs building repairs including dry walls, doors, windows, ceilings, and related structures.
• Maintains and repairs hospital equipment and facilities, including pumps, boilers, and electrical systems.
