Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Casual Concierge at Lake Forest Hospital. The role requires weekend and evening shifts (Saturday/Sunday 2:30–8:30 p.m. and 3:30–8:30 p.m., plus weekday evenings).

You will greet patients, visitors and staff, direct them to the right locations, and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced healthcare setting. You will coordinate with physicians, departments, security and transport services; assist with wheelchairs, wing/room directions, and patient

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
0-2 years of related work experience preferred, ideally in customer service or front-line roles.
Excellent communication skills; outgoing and friendly.
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and read/write in English.

Responsibilities

Greets all visitors and patients, determines needs, issues hospital IDs, directs or escorts as needed.
Assists patients with clinic, outpatient, inpatient, and department needs; coordinates with healthcare staff.
Communicates with physicians, nurses and other departments to handle meetings, patient needs and safety concerns.
Assists with wheelchair needs and uses transport services or staff as appropriate to aid patient movement.
Answers, screens and directs incoming calls; provides information and resolves problems as needed.
Maintains visitor information materials and assists with updating manuals for concierge areas.
Monitors census and updates physician guides; coordinates with external offices as required.
Supports security to prevent flu spread by enforcing visitor restrictions; opens/closes concierge desks.
