Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a hospital call center professional to answer and route a high volume of calls from the main line. The role includes paging physicians, rolling pagers, and making on-call schedule changes as needed. You will support medical faculty and staff in accordance with hospital policies.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least one year of customer service or console experience, preferably in a medical office setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year customer service experience, or console attendant experience.
• Experience in a medical office setting.

Responsibilities

• Answer attendant console within three rings in a courteous manner, identifying the Hospital and attendant services.
• Analyze and respond to calls quickly and clearly.
• Route callers to appropriate personnel or areas and assist as needed.
• Prioritize true emergencies and follow emergency procedures according to policies.
• Assist callers/visitors who speak limited English and handle difficult callers professionally.
• Respond to emergency, fire/security, and STAT pages immediately.
• Support medical faculty and staff in line with hospital policies.
