Overview

Operates telecommunication equipment to provide communication services for the hospital.

Qualifications

One (1) year experience in customer service (Preferred).

Core duties and responsibilities

Operates telecommunication equipment to provide communication service to hospital departments, patient care areas, and physicians.
Receives incoming calls and connects them as requested.
Monitors alarms such as fire, emergency, security, and telecommunications equipment.
Announces emergency codes and activates pagers and other communication devices.
Relays and routes written and verbal messages.
Identifies problems with communication devices and takes appropriate action.
Documents required information in appropriate logs.
Utilizes crisis intervention skills when dealing with callers/emergency situations.

Physical requirements

Able to sit for extended periods of time.
Able to read and write legibly.

Working environment

Standard office environment.

Skills and abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to operate basic office equipment such as phones, computers, copier, fax machine, etc.
Ability to multi-task and handle multi-line phone system.
