Job summary

Jackson Hospital is seeking a PBX Operator to handle communications between the hospital and the public. You will operate the switchboard, radio paging, and PA systems to relay messages among physicians, nurses, and patients.

The role requires basic MS Word/Windows knowledge and a high school diploma or GED, with the ability to sit for 8 hours per shift and maintain acuity for hearing, vision, and speech.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.
• Previous switchboard experience in a hospital or 911 operator or answering service center experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Windows.
• Typing speed of 50–60 words per minute.
• Must have visual, hearing and speech acuity; able to sit for 8 hours per shift.

Responsibilities

• The PBX Operator provides communication services between the Hospital and the general public.
• Operates a radio paging system to relay messages between physicians, nurse stations, and patients.
• Provide immediate communication for various codes to ensure life saving actions are taken promptly.
• Notify appropriate Hospital personnel in case of any type of disaster.
