Job summary

Mission Community Hospital is seeking a PBX Operator to handle multi-line switchboard tasks, answer calls, route urgent communications, and maintain logs. The role includes greeting visitors, signing in guests, and supporting alarm and work order processes in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, strong verbal and written communication skills, and some Customer Service experience. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Good verbal and written skills, bilingual preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, physicians, and the community.
• Manual dexterity is essential.
• Ability to follow proper lifting techniques, push wheelchairs with weight to 150 lbs.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced area with multiple tasks.
• Minimum of 6 months to a year of Customer Service.
• Preferred experience operating PBX, computer terminal, work order systems, copy/fax machines, two-way radio.
• Employees must obtain MAB and/or Fire Card within 60 days.
• Attending AIDET Training class.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone calls and routine inquiries. Makes necessary connections on a PBX and places calls for patients, and or MCH staff members.
• Routes routine and emergency calls.
• Overhead pages emergency codes.
• Pages, locates, and relays messages for physicians and facility personnel.
• Greets every caller internal and external in an appropriate, friendly, professional manner.
• Ensures all visitors, vendors, and/or patients sign in on the required log.
• Directs visitors, vendors, and/or patients to their destinations.
• Documents and maintains all logs for alarms and codes.
• Prepares all work orders for Support Services.
• Completes proper documentation needs for Work Order Systems.
• Performs related duties as requested by Administration and/or Director.
• Follow confidentiality policy and procedures.
