Job summary

Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center is seeking a hospital switchboard operator to manage telephone traffic and activate alert systems as needed. You will respond to calls, direct traffic, and maintain clear, courteous communication with patients and staff.

This role requires two years of phone/office experience, accurate data entry, and the ability to work across hospital workstations. Training covers all shifts and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Accurate keyboard and records maintenance skills.
• Ability to multitask and respond in a timely manner.
• Minimum two years' phone and office experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Ability to move about the hospital and between workstations.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills as the first point of contact.
• Capable of working in high-stress situations and making quick decisions for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Promptly responds, screens and directs traffic in a courteous, efficient manner using switchboard programs.
• Monitors alarm signals and dispatches appropriate repair or emergency response networks.
• Provides on-call services as requested.
• Follows visiting restrictions within patient information guidelines.
• Promotes a safe environment in line with BVH standards.
• Attends trainings and participates in education, process improvement, and customer service efforts.
• Submits departmental documentation within established time frames.
