Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Switchboard Operator to monitor and operate the hospital switchboard, answer and direct incoming calls, place outgoing calls, and manage overhead paging and emergency communications.

The role requires strong telephone skills and reliable handling of emergency communications, with attention to triaging and routing urgent calls, and maintaining switchboard equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent telephone skills and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Answers and directs all telephone calls and overhead paging inquiries for the efficient and timely operation of hospital communications.
• Triages and prioritizes calls as to their urgency, and accurately routes accordingly.
• Immediately responds to all alarms, security calls, and medical emergencies and logs emergency response information as appropriate.
