Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management seeks a System Communications & Information Operator to manage incoming calls at a UH hospital center. You will screening and routing requests, gathering emergency data, and guiding callers to the right resource with a professional, patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities include documenting calls, coordinating with regional centers, maintaining paging systems, and assisting with PHI compliance while delivering excellent service across the UH Health

Responsibilities

• Answers and screens all calls to the main hospital number and directs them to the appropriate resource promptly and courteously.
• Gathers caller information for emergencies, including location and details required, and communicates with emergency teams.
• Provides instructions to callers on immediate steps until responders arrive.
• Collaborates with regional centers to ensure coordinated response across UH Health System.
• Maintains paging system operations and on-call knowledge for UH.
• Enters and retrieves call data in the hospital computer system; documents actions taken.
• Maintains detailed records of calls: nature, location, date, time, actions.
• Delivers high levels of customer service and professional conduct as a UH representative.
• Handles inquiries about physicians, services, and logistics to facilitate access to care.
• Works as a team member with staff and providers to improve patient experience.
• Escalates issues to leadership when needed and resolves service delivery gaps.
• Performs other duties as assigned and adheres to policies and PHI requirements.
