Swedish Hospital Chicago, IL is seeking a Hospital Operator for a full-time role to be the first point of contact, answer incoming calls, route them to the correct department, and provide information about hours, services, and directions. You will record messages, relay urgent information promptly, assist callers in distress with empathy, and maintain accurate logs while using paging and intercom systems.

A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and at least 1 year of telephone operator or hospital

Qualifications

• 1 year of telephone operator or customer service experience in a healthcare or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Professionally answer all incoming calls and route them to the appropriate department.
• Provide general information about hours, services, and directions to callers.
• Record and relay messages accurately and promptly.
• Respond to emergencies and code calls, coordinating with hospital staff.
• Maintain detailed logs of calls, messages, and communications.
• Assist callers in distress with empathy and professionalism while ensuring privacy compliance.
