Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Patient Advocate to guide uninsured hospital patients through medical and disability assistance programs. This full-time, onsite role is at a hospital in Mankato, MN, with a Monday-Friday schedule from 8am to 4:30pm, providing face-to-face support for eligibility and enrollment.

You will screen patients at bedside, complete applications, document thoroughly, and work with hospital staff to ensure timely assistance and high bedside

Qualifications

• Some college coursework preferred
• Prior hospital experience preferred
• Adaptability to changing processes, computer systems and government programs
• Professional experience working with state and federal programs
• Strong communication and customer-service skills

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county medical or disability programs
• Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved
• Document cases accurately in Elevate PFS and hospital systems
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors
• Answer incoming calls, make outbound calls, and track enrollment paperwork
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone or via queue processes
• Assist applicants with gathering documents and arranging transportation when needed
• Conduct in-person community visits to acquire required documentation
• Inform clients of approvals and denials of coverage in a timely manner
• Attend required training to stay updated on program rules and regulations
• Maintain regular attendance
• Other duties as assigned
