Job summary

Compassus in Georgia seeks a Chaplain/Bereavement Coordinator to provide spiritual support to patients and families, participate in the IDT, and develop bereavement programs that extend at least one year after death.

The role requires formal chaplaincy education, bereavement experience, and the ability to travel. You will educate staff, lead grief groups, document care, and promote Compassus values in the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Divinity or related field preferred; high school diploma acceptable
• Minimum 1 year spiritual/pastoral support experience
• Minimum 2 years grief/bereavement support experience
• Minimum 1 year pastoral support related to loss, grief, or trauma preferred
• Flexibility to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Explain hospice services and Medicare benefits to patients and families; obtain consent and election documents
• Participate as an IDT member and contribute to care plan development
• Provide spiritual care to patients and families and engage community clergy as needed
• Counsel through stages of death, grief, and bereavement
• Develop and implement bereavement plan of care after patient death
• Lead bereavement support groups and coordinate with community resources
• Document care and services per state/federal requirements
• Promote Compassus in the community and recruit volunteers
