Job summary

Requires a high school diploma or GED and Maryland CNA registration. On-site, full-time position in Baltimore with emphasis on empathy, communication, and documentation using hand-held devices.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Hospice Philosophy and care principles.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage issues related to death and dying.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to communicate with facility staff when assigned to facility-based care.
• Proficiency with hand-held devices and electronic documentation.
• Demonstrated empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.

Responsibilities

• Performs personal care needs by attending to patient/family requests promptly.
• Assists with bedpans, baths, oral hygiene, shampoos, changing bed linen and feeding.
• Ensures safety and proper use of equipment.
• Plans and assists with nutritious meals as assigned.
• Records temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered.
• Monitors skin care to prevent tissue breakdown.
• Reports changes to supervising nurse and communicates with caregivers.
• Assists in ambulation and prescribed exercises.
• Keeps living area clean and orderly.
• Performs range of motion and simple therapy exercises as ordered.
• Provides respite for patient/family/caregiver on site as appropriate.
