Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a dedicated Family Services Advocate to engage with families, assess needs, and connect them to community supports. The role emphasizes strengths-based conversations using tools like FAST and ClientView to review DHS service histories.

The position requires a master's or bachelor's in human services with several years of direct practice, plus necessary clearances and a valid driver’s license. This is an on-site role in Pittsburgh, PA.

Qualifications

• Master's degree plus three years of direct practice in human services.
• Bachelor's degree plus five years of direct practice in human services.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience meeting required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Act 33, 34 and FBI clearances.
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Engages families in a manner that makes them comfortable and supported.
• Asks families about immediate needs beyond housing and assists with addressing those needs.
• Uses DHS tools (ClientView) to review family history with services and supports.
• Utilizes FAST assessment to identify strengths and needs through discussion with families.
• Advocates at a systems level to ensure timely access to services and supports.
• Helps families find natural supports and make community connections.
• Checks in with families about progress toward outcomes and effectiveness of services.

Job description

• Engages the family in a way in which they are comfortable.
• Asks the family what immediate needs they have (in addition to housing needs) and assists the family with addressing those needs.
• Uses discussion with the family, as well as DHS tools (i.e., ClientView) to review the family's history with DHS services and supports.
• Uses the FAST assessment tool to engage the family in a conversation that will identify their strengths and needs.
• Advocates on a system level to ensure timely access to services and supports for families.
• Assists the family with finding natural supports and with making connections/re-connections to those they find.
• Checks in with them about their strengths and needs, the effectiveness of services and supports they are using and their attainment of outcomes.

• Master's degree in a human services field, plus three years of experience working in the human services field performing direct practice.
• Bachelor's degree in a human services field, plus five years of experience working in the human services field performing direct practice.
