Job summary

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is seeking a Homeowner Eligibility Specialist to accept, review, and decision applicant files, provide loan processing support, and certify that files meet program guidelines for affiliate and external stakeholders.

This full‑time, hourly, non‑exempt role is scheduled M-F 8:00 am–4:30 pm with evenings and weekends as needed and pays $19–$23 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits including health, vision, dental, life and disability insurance, a 401(k) with 3% match,

Qualifications

• Background in residential lending or affordable housing.
• 2+ years working with diverse demographics.
• Familiarity with mortgage loan documentation and underwriting standards.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Assist applicants in completing loan applications through closing and resolve issues.
• Organize applicant files and gather documents to determine eligibility.
• Communicate file status and required documentation to applicants.
• Recertify income, assets, and credit to verify eligibility at stages.
• Process loan files in preparation for closings with Loan Closing Specialist.
• Provide resources to denied applicants to overcome barriers.
• Represent MHFH at events for recruitment of applicants.
