Job summary

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is seeking a Homeownership Eligibility Specialist to review applicant files and determine program eligibility, supporting families toward decent, affordable housing.

You will certify documents, manage a filing pipeline, and coordinate with the Family Services Department to assist in outreach and applications. This role is full-time with standard hours and occasional evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Background in residential lending, affordable housing, banking, or accounting preferred.
• Minimum 2 years working with diverse demographics.
• Familiarity with mortgage loan documentation and underwriting standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist applicants in completing loan applications, following through to closing.
• Organize applicant files and expedite document collection for eligibility.
• Communicate file status and necessary documentation to applicants/partners.
• Recertify income, assets, and credit to verify eligibility at multiple stages.
• Prepare loan files for closings with the Loan Closing Specialist.
• Provide resources to denied applicants to overcome barriers.
• Represent Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity at community events for outreach.
