Job summary

New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) seeks an Assistant Director for the NYS HOME Program to support the HOME Program Director and team. You will supervise staff, manage projects, oversee fiscal and regulatory compliance, and provide technical assistance to grantees to ensure adherence to HUD HOME requirements.

The role involves preparing materials, reviewing funding rounds, and coordinating with diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 4 years in grant/project management, housing and real estate development, or federal program compliance.
• Advanced understanding of real estate and housing finance from work experience.
• Ability to research independently and retrieve information.
• Experience working with diverse communities and strong communication.
• Experience supervising staff and handling administrative duties with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff, provide performance evaluations and professional development coaching.
• Track and monitor project portfolios through funding, development, and compliance phases.
• Prepare funding round materials, applications and reports; interpret program rules.
• Provide technical assistance to program grantees and ensure understanding of regulations.
• Review and process program-related payment requests and contracts.
• Represent program in meetings, webinars, and workshops and support special projects.
