Job summary

New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) seeks a NYS HOME Program Assistant Director to support the HOME Program Director and team. Responsibilities include staff supervision, project management, fiscal oversight and regulatory compliance of the HOME program allocations under HUD.

You will supervise staff, review funding rounds, and provide technical assistance to program grantees to ensure comprehension of regulations and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related work experience (grant/project management, housing/real estate development, federal program compliance, or project underwriting).
• Advanced understanding of real estate and housing finance through work experience, especially project development and underwriting.
• Ability to research and retrieve information independently.
• Experience working with diverse communities.
• Strong communication and professionalism in written and oral form.
• Experience supervising staff and managing teams.
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Track and monitor project portfolio through funding, development, and compliance phases.
• Carry out routine office activities, phone handling, data entry, and correspondence.
• Draft memos, reports, manuals, and presentations with accuracy.
• Prepare and review funding round materials and program documents.
• Interpret HOME and federal rules; monitor regulatory updates.
• Provide technical assistance to program grantees on regulations and processes.
• Supervise staff and conduct performance evaluations.
• Review program payments and contracts; attend community meetings and trainings.
• Support special projects and other program-related tasks as needed.
