Job summary

Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, seeks a Physical Therapist Assistant for Mt. Vernon LHC MVI to provide treatment and education in home health under a supervising PT.

Responsibilities include exercising instruction, gait training, recording patient responses, and coordinating care with the health team; requires state licensure, driver's license, and weekend availability.

This full-time role offers a sign-on bonus for external applicants and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance or access to public transportation.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.
• Current CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.

Responsibilities

• Follow state laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care and operate under the supervising PT plan of care.
• Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, gait, functional activities, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses to treatment; coordinate care with the health care team.
• Instruct patient, family, caregiver, and other health team members in therapy within the scope of the PTA.
• Function in diverse home environments and with patients of all backgrounds.
