Job summary

CHRISTUS Homecare, part of LHC Group and a member of the Optum family, seeks a Physical Therapist Assistant to support patients in their homes. You will provide treatment and education to improve patients’ well-being according to the established plan of care.

Responsibilities include following state laws, coordinating with the supervising Physical Therapist, aiding patients in therapeutic exercises, and educating families and caregivers for safe, effective home-based care.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Follow state laws governing home care physical therapy and work under the supervising PT.
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, gait, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses and changes to the supervising PT; coordinate care with the healthcare team.
• Educate patient, family, caregiver, and other health team members in therapy within the PTA scope.
