Job summary

CHRISTUS Homecare, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to support patients in their homes under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. You will deliver treatment, provide exercise instruction and patient education, and help enhance well-being while following the established plan of care.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Ability to function in any home situation regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Follow state-specific laws governing home care; perform only those procedures defined by the supervising PT; make recommendations for changes in the plan of care to the supervising PT.
• Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses; coordinate care with the healthcare team.
• Instruct patient, family, caregiver, and other health team members in the therapy scope of the PTA.
