Job summary

Maine State CU is seeking a Home Equity Specialist in Augusta to originate and manage home equity loan applications from start to finish. You will build strong relationships with members and referral sources while advising on lending options and cross-selling opportunities.

The role requires 1-3 years in mortgage or consumer lending, solid understanding of lending regulations, and the ability to obtain/maintain MLO (NMLS) registration. Competitive hourly pay and benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of mortgage, home equity, or consumer lending experience.
• Strong knowledge of lending regulations, including SAFE Act, ECOA, FCRA, TRID, ATR, QM, and Reg Z.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and sales skills.
• Experience with underwriting and credit analysis preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Mortgage Loan Originator (NMLS) registration.

Responsibilities

• Originate and manage home equity loan applications from start to finish.
• Build relationships with members, prospects, and referral sources.
• Analyze and underwrite loans within approved lending authority.
• Educate members on lending options, credit, and financial solutions.
• Identify opportunities to cross-sell loans, deposit products, and digital banking services.
• Partner with mortgage, processing, and title teams to ensure a smooth lending experience.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable lending regulations and policies.
