Job summary

Skatetown in California seeks an experienced Hockey Programs Director to lead and grow our youth and adult hockey initiatives. This is a full-time, hands-on management role overseeing the hockey department, collaborating with coaches, and shaping program quality and growth.

You will recruit, train, and mentor staff, manage travel and league activities, monitor enrollment and customer satisfaction, and develop new clinics and events to expand participation.

Qualifications

• Strong hockey background (playing, coaching, officiating, or program experience).
• Leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer-service capabilities.
• Comfortable working with youth players, parents, adult players, coaches, and officials.
• Experience managing sports programs, leagues, teams, or employees.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of Skatetown's hockey programs.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate coaches and instructors.
• Maintain coaching and player-development standards.
• Oversee youth player evaluations, team formation, and advancement.
• Manage adult league divisions, player placement, parity, rosters, and discipline.
• Collaborate with captains, parents, coaches, officials, and scorekeepers to resolve issues.
• Oversee youth travel hockey from a program and administrative standpoint.
• Monitor enrollment, retention, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop new clinics, camps, leagues, and other opportunities to grow participation.
• Maintain schedules, program information, league systems, and hockey communications.
• Maintain a visible management presence during evening and weekend programming.
