Job summary

Ice in Paradise in Goleta, CA is seeking an Ice Sports Coach to lead youth hockey, figure skating, and related programs. You will design and deliver on-ice and off-ice training, helping athletes develop skills and a competitive mindset.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will create age-appropriate curricula for leagues, clinics, camps, and birthday parties, while ensuring a safe, fun environment and ongoing athlete development.

Qualifications

• Coaching licenses or actively pursuing them preferred.
• Proven coaching experience in hockey, figure skating, speed skating, etc.
• Able to demonstrate and participate in on-ice activities.
• Minimum 2 years coaching youth athletes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team player mindset.
• Strong leadership and motivational skills.
• Flexible schedule, mostly after-school and weekends.
• CPR/First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain.
• Neat, professional appearance.
• Knowledge of coaching rules, techniques and strategies.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Passion for sports and athlete development.

Responsibilities

• Teach skills, tactics, and techniques to groups and individuals.
• Develop and implement tailored training programs.
• Lead on-ice and off-ice sessions focusing on skills and conditioning.
• Instruct both basic and advanced skating techniques.
• Monitor and evaluate athlete performance; provide feedback.
• Offer constructive feedback and motivation.
• Demonstrate techniques by breaking them into steps.
• Foster discipline, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Maintain a friendly, courteous environment with all stakeholders.
• Identify strengths and development areas.
• Ensure safety during all activities.
• Keep current with coaching methods and sports science.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.
