Job summary

Park District of Oak Park invites applications for the Hockey Program Supervisor role at the ice arena. This full-time position oversees hockey programs, staffing, budgets and safety, and collaborates with facilities, marketing and operations to grow participation.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years supervising hockey or skating programs, a Bachelor’s in recreation, CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 3 months, and strong communication and budgeting skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (4year) in Recreation or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience working with an Ice Arena, in Hockey and/or Figure Skating.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
• Certified Park and Recreation Professional or able to attain within one year.
• Involvement in recreational or competitive hockey and/or figure skating.
• Pre-employment drug test required and good driving record.
• Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to multi-task workload.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of employees and patrons.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Planning and problem-solving skills.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certification within 3 months.
• Programming experience in a recreational setting.
• Knowledge of safety and risk management considerations.
• Demonstrate sound judgment in daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate hockey programs and related facilities.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate staff and instructors.
• Oversee ice arena instructors and volunteer coaches.
• Develop new program ideas and implement improvements.
• Prepare annual program budgets and monitor cost recovery goals.
• Manage budgets, registration, and Amelia software system.
• Coordinate with facilities and operations for service delivery.
• Lead quarterly staff meetings and ensure safety procedures.
• Maintain supplies and equipment and manage inventory.
• Engage with community partners and stakeholders.
