Sylvania seeks an after-school weather club advisor to plan and communicate club activities, create flyers, and lead meteorology-related learning sessions. You will manage scheduling, attendance, and logistics while coordinating with parents and school staff to ensure a smooth program for students.

The role emphasizes hands-on weather observation, data collection, and climate discussions, with support for field trips and materials. 30+ hour commitment with a two-part stipend.

Responsabilités

• Plan announcements for start and end of activity and provide updates.
• Create digital (PNG/JPEG) and print flyers for newsletters and posted areas.
• Make morning announcements and for designated locations (The Den).
• Communicate schedule changes to parents via ParentSquare or email and give advance notice of cancellations.
• Set up and clean the activity space and coordinate custodial support when needed.
• Maintain student roster and attendance; share at midpoint and end of activity.
• Lead weather-related education: meteorology basics, data collection, and climate discussions; manage logistics and field trips to inspire interest.

• Marketing and communicating the activity:
• • Plan to announce both the start and the end of the activity and provide updates, as relevant.
  • Create digital (PNG/JPEG formats only) and print flyer(s) for the weekly newsletter and posting in designated spots.
  • Announcements (morning audio and for The Den)
• Regular meetings between either 7:00am - 8:00am or 3:00pm - 4:00pm (or later if applicable). Be in location prior to start. If after school, stay with all students until all are picked up.
• Communicate via Parent Square or Email with the parent of the club members regarding schedule, schedule changes and cancellations. Please give as much notice as possible when canceling and be sure this information is communicated to the parents, not just announced in the building.
• Setup and cleanup the area used for the activity.
• • Please request custodial assistance, with sufficient notice, when appropriate.
• Maintain roster and attendance of students, submit or share at midpoint and end of activity.
• Our weather club advisor is responsible for teaching students about meteorological science, organizing activities like weather observation and data collection, and leading discussions on climate and atmospheric phenomena. The advisor also manages club logistics, including finding resources for weather tools or field trips, and inspiring an interest in the science of weather and climate.

Minimum of 30 Hours

½ Stipend Paid in December, ½ Paid in June
