Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an individual for a leadership role focused on mentoring students and enhancing their communication skills. Responsibilities include planning activities, conducting meetings, and maintaining regular communication with parents regarding schedules and changes. The role involves guiding students to become positive role models and organizing community service initiatives.

This position requires a minimum commitment of 35 hours, with a stipend paid in two installments, December and June.

Job description

  • Marketing and communicating the activity:
    • Plan to announce both the start and the end of the activity and provide updates, as relevant.
    • Create digital (PNG/JPEG formats only) and print flyer(s) for the weekly newsletter and posting in designated spots.
    • Announcements (morning audio and for The Den)
  • Regular meetings between either 7:00am - 8:00am or 3:00pm - 4:00pm (or later if applicable). Be in location prior to start. If after school, stay with all students until all are picked up.
  • Communicate via Parent Square or Email with the parent of the club members regarding schedule, schedule changes and cancellations. Please give as much notice as possible when canceling and be sure this information is communicated to the parents, not just announced in the building.
  • Setup and cleanup the area used for the activity.
  • Please request custodial assistance, with sufficient notice, when appropriate.
  • Maintain roster and attendance of students, submit or share at midpoint and end of activity.
  • Our peer leaders advisor is responsible for guiding students to become mentors and role models. This involves recruiting and training a diverse group of students, facilitating meetings that focus on leadership and communication skills, and organizing community service projects or school-wide initiatives. They also provide a supportive and inclusive environment for students to develop their social-emotional skills and serve as positive examples for their peers.

Minimum of 35 Hours

½ Stipend Paid in December, ½ Paid in June
