Job summary

Sylvania in Easton, Connecticut is seeking a club advisor responsible for planning and communicating activities. This role involves creating flyers, maintaining attendance, and overseeing student events like fundraisers and picnics.

The chosen candidate will ensure effective communication with parents regarding schedules and any changes. Compensation is structured with half paid in December and half in June.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and announce activities, providing updates as necessary.
• Create digital and print flyers for newsletters.
• Communicate with parents via email about schedules and changes.
• Conduct regular meetings and ensure student supervision.
• Communicate via Parent Square or Email with the parent of the club members regarding schedule, schedule changes, and cancellations. Please give as much notice as possible when canceling and be sure this information is communicated to the parents, not just announced in the building.
• Setup and cleanup the area used for the activity.
• Please request custodial assistance, with sufficient notice, when appropriate.
• Maintain roster and attendance of students, submit or share at midpoint and end of activity.
• Our 8th-grade council advisors provide and develop leadership skills and foster agency of the involved students. They help to facilitate the annual toy drive with Curielle School (or other similar school), and facilitate two annual fundraising events, the Pancake Breakfast and Pasta Dinner. They help students facilitate a class legacy gift/project while maintaining all related financial responsibilities.
• The advisors help students to plan their end of year picnic as well as assist with the end of year trip and closing ceremony.

Job Responsibilities

Marketing and communicating the activity: Plan to announce both the start and the end of the activity and provide updates, as relevant.

Create digital (PNG/JPEG formats only) and print flyer(s) for the weekly newsletter and posting in designated spots.

Announcements (morning audio and for The Den)

Regular meetings between either 7:00am - 8:00am or 3:00pm - 4:00pm (or later, if applicable). Be in location prior to start. If after school, stay with all students until all are picked up.

Communicate via Parent Square or Email with the parent of the club members regarding schedule, schedule changes, and cancellations. Please give as much notice as possible when canceling and be sure this information is communicated to the parents, not just announced in the building.

Compensation

Half stipend paid in December, and half paid in June.
