Job summary

Prime Healthcare St Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL seeks a Histotechnician to prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination, perform grossing, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining, and support IHC and QC activities.

You will work nights, collaborate with pathologists and lab staff, manage specimens, maintain equipment, handle safety protocols, and participate in continuing education to uphold CAP/CLIA standards.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory science or on-the-job histotechnology training.
• HT/ASCP Certification, or equivalent, preferred.
• Minimum of two years histology experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination including fixation, processing, embedding, and microtomy.
• Perform routine and special staining procedures.
• Assist with immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining.
• Ensure proper specimen identification, labeling, and tracking.
