Job summary

The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks to fill nursing instructor roles that include teaching hands-on care, theory, and clinical supervision. Responsibilities cover syllabus development, admin tasks, and student assessments across long-term care and clinical settings.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree (Nursing) with Registered Nurse (RN) license, or Diploma in nursing with Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license who works under the supervision of the primary instructor (RN).
  • One (1) year of experience in long-term care caring for the elderly and/or the chronically ill of any age and two (2) years of experience in the discipline also required.
  • Active, unencumbered SC RN or LPN license
  • Current American Heart Association Provider CPR (Adult & Child)
  • Must meet all requirements for clinical participation per clinical facility.
  • Previous teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
  • At least two (2) years of recent practical experience with venipuncture and specimen collection and/or electrocardiogram in a clinical setting.
  • Current American Heart Association Instructor CPR (Adult & Child)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or maintain current course syllabi for course taught.
  • Ensure course is taught in accordance with the established syllabus.
  • Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis.
  • Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Direct supervision of students in a variety of clinical settings.
  • Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course.
  • Work with other areas of the college such as Tutoring, Retention, etc. to help ensure student success.
  • Recommend adequate laboratory facilities/equipment for assigned course.
  • Attend relevant professional meetings.
  • Represent the College positively in interactions with the community and with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.
  • Maintain frequent communication with PCT program faculty (or course coordinators).
