Job summary

The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks a Nursing Instructor to deliver hands-on clinicals and theory, manage classroom activities, and handle administrative tasks such as reports and lesson plans in Beaufort, SC.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate degree in Nursing with RN licensure or a Nursing Diploma with LPN licensure, plus 1+ year in long-term care, current CPR, and an active SC license. You will supervise students in clinical settings and collaborate with other college departments.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing with RN license or Diploma in Nursing with LPN license.
  • 1+ year of experience in long-term care caring for the elderly or chronically ill.
  • Active, unencumbered SC RN or LPN license.
  • Current American Heart Association Provider CPR (Adult and Child).
  • Must meet all requirements for clinical participation per clinical facility.
  • Two years of experience in the discipline also required.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct nursing courses with hands-on clinicals and theory.
  • Prepare and maintain current syllabi and ensure alignment with course syllabus.
  • Assess student progress and maintain attendance/grades records.
  • Direct supervision of students in clinical settings.
  • Collaborate with Tutoring, Retention and other college areas to support student success.
  • Attend relevant professional meetings and participate in faculty development.

  • Direct supervision of students in a variety of clinical settings.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
Teaching Responsibilities

  • Ensure course is taught in accordance with the established syllabus.
  • Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis.
  • Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Direct supervision of students in a variety of clinical settings.
Instructional Development
  • Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course.
  • Work with other areas of the college such as Tutoring, Retention, etc. to help ensure student success.
  • Recommend adequate laboratory facilities/equipment for assigned course.
Professional Development
  • Attend relevant professional meetings.
  • Represent the College positively in interactions with the community and with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.
  • Maintain frequent communication with PCT program faculty (or course coordinators).
Minimum And Additional Requirements
  • Associate degree (Nursing) with Registered Nurse (RN) license, or Diploma in nursing with Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license who works under the supervision of the primary instructor (RN).
  • One (1) year of experience in long-term care caring for the elderly and/or the chronically ill of any age and two (2) years of experience in the discipline also required.
  • Active, unencumbered SC RN or LPN license
  • Current American Heart Association Provider CPR (Adult and Child)
  • Must meet all requirements for clinical participation per clinical facility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
  • At least two (2) years of recent practical experience with venipuncture and specimen collection and/or electrocardiogram in a clinical setting.
  • Current American Heart Association Instructor CPR (Adult and Child)
