Job summary

The City of New York Department of Transportation seeks a Landmarks Preservationist to support regulatory compliance for historic resources within TPM. You will work on NHPA/NEPA projects, draft agreements, and coordinate with Federal and State agencies on preservation standards.

You will assist with public hearings, manage documentation, and help prioritize investigations within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to transportation planning and safety.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with 1 year relevant preservation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years related experience.
• Graduate study may substitute for up to 1 year experience while requiring a bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Assist with drafting legal agreements and mitigation measures.
• Prepare historic resource analyses for NHPA/NEPA compliance.
• Review consultant submissions for completeness and accuracy.
• Liaise with Federal and State agencies on regulations.
• Organize public hearings and maintain unit files.

Education

Master’s degree in historic preservation or related field

Bachelor’s degree in historic preservation or related field

Equivalent education/experience with CHEA recognition
