Job summary

The New York State Department of Transportation is seeking an Environmental Specialist 2 to coordinate with project engineers, consultants, and agencies to document and minimize environmental effects and secure required permits.

You will serve as threatened and endangered species coordinator and as a cultural resource coordinator, contributing expertise across noise, air quality, hazardous wastes, soil, groundwater, wetlands, and native species.

Qualifications

• Requires familiarity with environmental laws and permit processes.
• NY HELPS program eligibility may apply for this position.
• Familiarity with environmental monitoring topics (noise, air quality, hazardous wastes, soils, groundwater) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with project engineers, consultants, and agencies to document and minimize environmental effects and secure permits.
