Job summary

Foundation Medicine in Morrisville, NC seeks an Histopathology Operations Specialist I to support upstream laboratory and pathology operations. You will perform specimen and data stewardship, maintain documentation, and assist in maintaining GDP compliance.

The role involves real-time technical support to pathologists, equipment maintenance, and data integrity tasks. A regulated-lab background and strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years in logistics, science or regulated field; or Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related fields.

Responsibilities

• Provide real time technical support to pathologists including specimen quality assessments and measurements.
• Maintain documentation including specimen handling, labeling, and quality control measures.
• Perform specimen and data stewardship to ensure specimen integrity and testing continuity.
• Escalate specimen and data inquiries as required.
• Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as necessary.
• Scan stained slides with digital scanners.
• Follow SOPs and maintain attention to detail for quality completion.
• Assist in attributing and debulking clinical and research study patient specimens.
• Adhere to Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Complete tasks for projects under guidance of senior lab staff and pathologists.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Comply with FMI’s attendance policies.
