WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Fairmont, WV seeks an experienced Medical Laboratory professional to supervise multiple lab areas and ensure accurate, timely patient results.

The role requires 4 years of relevant experience with licensure and ASCP/AMT certifications. You will mentor staff, coordinate reference laboratory referrals, and maintain SOPs while upholding safety and quality standards in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in a medical laboratory field.
• Current licensure as required by the state where services are provided (WV/HCTP, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnologist; PA/OH/MD no state license required).
• Four years’ experience as MT/MLT/Histotechnologist/Cytotechnologist.
• One of the following national certifications through ASCP or AMT: MLT, MLS, CT, HTL.

Responsabilités

• Assist Lab Managers with supervision of all lab areas and staffing.
• Orient new staff and contribute to performance appraisals and discipline.
• Coordinate reference lab referrals and ensure timely results.
• Coordinate LIS downtime activities with technical staff.
• Operate/supervise lab equipment and prepare specimens per SOPs.
• Develop/revise SOPs and department policies.
• Maintain awareness of hospital/lab policies and bargaining agreement.
• Respond to customer inquiries and monitor specimen processing.
• Solicit input from Medical Directors/Managers on issues.
• Prioritize workload to ensure optimal patient care and efficiency.
• Participate in staff meetings and disseminate information.
• Maintain up-to-date communication of new policies/procedures.
• Review quality control records and data for analytical accuracy.
• Ensure workload completion within turnaround times and communicate across departments.
• Possibly participate in instruction of residents/students.
