Job summary

Wheeling Hospital seeks a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily lab operations, staff supervision, and workflow. The role ensures timely turnaround of specimens, adherence to SOPs, and quality control across lab sections.

Eligible candidates hold a MT/MLS-related degree with WV licensure and at least four years of lab experience; ASCP/AMT certifications are preferred. Exempt/non-exempt varies; 40 hours weekly in Wheeling, WV.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Cytotechnology, Histotechnology or related field or Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field.
• Current state licensure as required: WV license with permissible categories; PA/OH/MD no license required.
• Four years of experience as a Medical Technologist/MLT/Cytotechnologist/Histotechnologist.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all lab areas and ensure appropriate staffing and patient care.
• Participate in staff orientation and performance evaluations.
• Coordinate specimen transport to reference labs and monitor turnaround times.
• Oversee instrument operation and adherence to SOPs; maintain quality control.
• Communicate policy changes and provide guidance to staff and physicians.
