Job summary

Schweiger Dermatology PLLC is seeking a Grossing Technician to perform tissue description, dissection and sectioning for diagnostic evaluation of skin specimens. You will review specimens for completeness, optimize processing times, and support quality control and safety in a professional lab environment.

The role requires an associate degree in a laboratory science or equivalent training, with hands-on experience in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

Associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
OR 60 semester hours including 24 hours in medical laboratory technology or 24 hours of science with chemistry/biology composition as specified.

Responsibilities

Performs tissue description, dissection, and sectioning for diagnostic evaluation of small skin specimens (shaves, punches, excisions).
Reviews specimens for completeness and accuracy including site and patient ID.
Selects processing times and procedures for tissues (nails, alopecias, hair mounts).
Troubleshoots technical problems in gross area/room; maintains and QC instruments as applicable.
Maintains a safe working environment and monitors supply/inventory.
Performs other histology-related work (embedding, microtomy, slide filing) after training on SOPs.
Supports QA/QC policies and training programs.
