Job summary

Schweiger is seeking a Grossing Technician to join our laboratory team. You will describe, dissect, and section small skin specimens (shaves, punches, excisions) for diagnostic evaluation, ensuring accurate site/patient ID and proper processing.

Daily duties include reviewing specimens, selecting processing times, troubleshooting methods, and maintaining instruments. A 60-hour+ course of study and ABHES/CAHEA-aligned training support your success.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a laboratory science with required coursework.
• Passing ABHES/CAHEA or equivalent clinical lab training is preferred.
• Continued education is expected annually.

Responsibilities

• Performs tissue description, dissection, and sectioning for skin specimens.
• Reviews specimens for completeness, accuracy and proper labeling.
• Maintains and troubleshoots instruments in the gross area.
• Follows SOPs and supports quality control programs.
