Job summary

Schweiger is a leading dermatology practice seeking a Grossing Technician to perform tissue description, dissection, and sectioning for skin specimens. You will review specimens for accuracy, select processing times, and troubleshoot technical issues within the gross area while maintaining safety and inventory controls.

Preferred candidates hold an associate degree in medical laboratory science or equivalent and have training aligned to ABHES/CAHEA standards, with familiarity in SOPs and QA/QC

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology or equivalent, with required science credits.
• Completion of ABHES/CAHEA-accredited clinical lab training or 3 months documented in-house training.
• Competence in pathology SOPs and laboratory compliance workflows.

Responsibilities

• Performs tissue description, dissection, and sectioning for diagnostic evaluation of skin specimens.
• Reviews specimens for completeness and accuracy, including site and patient identification.
• Selects processing times and procedures for tissues (nails, alopecias, hair mounts).
• Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems in the gross area and instrumentation utilization.
• Maintains a safe working environment and monitors supply and inventory.
• Performs related histology tasks and supports QA/QC policies.
