Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with all aspects of medical records, including electronic medical records.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and/or coding desired
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Receives and responds to incoming requests for health information in a timely and professional manner.
• Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
• Date stamps requests and highlights pertinent data to facilitate processing.
• Validates requests and authorizations for release of information per HIPAA and procedures.
• Documents requests and updates status in the electronic tracking system and scans into EHR.
• Completes release of information requests accurately per procedures and standards.
• Performs quality checks to assure confidentiality and accuracy of releases and invoicing.
• Organizes workload to meet production goals.
• Maintains knowledge of state and federal privacy laws and facility policies.
• Performs other duties as required.
