Job summary

University of Utah in Salt Lake City seeks a Healthcare Information Management (HIM) Supervisor for the Department of Pediatrics. The role oversees daily HIM operations, staff hiring/training, and workflow management in a busy ambulatory setting, using EPIC EMR for patient data and In Basket handling.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with up to 2 years of related work experience or a Master’s degree (or equivalent).
Supervisor‑Level position in the Management track is possible.
Experience using EPIC for workflows, In Basket management, and staff support is preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervises daily HIM operations, hires, trains, coaches, and evaluates staff.
Assigns work queues, monitors productivity, and enforces time and attendance policies.
Resolves HIM processing issues and escalated staff/provider concerns.
Assists in revising policies, procedures, and workflows for HIM processes.
Plans department goals, staffing needs, and workflow improvements.
Maintains records and prepares monthly HIM performance reports.
Participates in departmental, interdisciplinary, and organizational committees.
May perform HIM duties during peak periods or escalated requests.
