Job summary

Newberry Health is seeking a dedicated HIM Correspondence Coordinator to coordinate the activities of the HIM Correspondence section and assist in scanning outpatient records into the Meditech system. The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to privacy and dress code policies.

You will work with the ROI vendor, handle phone calls and messages, process inquiries for medical records, and ensure documents are scanned daily. Healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
• Preferred: healthcare experience and Medical Terminology.
• Essential: ability to coordinate ROI and manage medical records tasks.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with ROI vendor to ensure ROI requests are handled timely and efficiently.
• Answers phone for the department and processes/relays message to staff. Handles phone request for medical records in a timely manner.
• Retrieves mail from mailroom and routes to appropriate staff member.
• Responses to fax request for medical records in a timely manner.
• Secures appropriate identification of requestor and verifies an authorization is present. Ensure all required elements are completed and signed by the patient or legal representative
• Process Diagnostic images upon request
• Ensures all op and miscellaneous documents are scanned on a daily basis (weekday).
• Maintains scanning and MFD (multi-functional device) equipment including servicing, ordering supplies for equipment and contacting IT if appropriate for repairs.
