Job summary

Pagosa Springs Medical Center is seeking a Representative: Health Information Management (HIM) to support the daily operations of the HIM department and serve as the primary point of contact for patients, visitors, providers, and staff.

You will handle Release of Information requests, scanning and indexing of documents, and ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of health records while delivering courteous service in a fast-paced office environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, visitors, physicians, and staff professionally.
• Respond to questions about medical records and HIM services; provide excellent customer service.
• Process Release of Information requests and verify patient identity before release.
• Scan, index, and import medical records into the electronic health record.
• Maintain department logs, reports, and tracking systems; meet turnaround times.
