Job summary

Newberry Health is seeking a HIM Correspondence Clerk to coordinate the ROI processes and assist in scanning operative records into the Meditech system. The role works under the HIM Director and involves interacting with ROI vendors, handling telephone requests, and routing documents to staff.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED. Healthcare experience and medical terminology knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
• Experience: Previous health care experience; Medical Terminology (preferred).
• Willingness to work under supervision; willingness to supervise others is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate ROI vendor activities to ensure requests are handled timely and efficiently.
• Answer department calls and relay messages; process/relate requests for medical records.
• Retrieve mail from the mailroom and route to the appropriate staff member.
• Respond to fax requests for medical records promptly.
• Verify requestor identity and ensure authorization is present, with required signatures.
• Process Diagnostic images upon request.
• Ensure daily scanning of op and miscellaneous documents.
• Maintain scanning and MFD equipment; service and order supplies; liaise with IT for repairs.
