Job summary

Virtua Health is hiring for a Health Information Management professional in Mount Holly. You will capture and index paper records, convert them to electronic form, and ensure the integrity of the legal health record within OnBase and Epic.

The role emphasizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with physicians and departments to complete documentation and maintain patient confidentiality. Ideal candidates have 2 years of medical office experience, an AAS in HIM or related, and

Qualifications

• 2 years of medical office experience required or equivalent in education (minimum of AAS in HIM).
• Strong knowledge of medical record format.
• Ability to perform computer functions in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy."
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; customer service focused.
• Previous experience with an electronic health record system (Epic) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Document capture of paper records into OnBase and manage electronic images in OnBase and Epic.
• Assess scanned images for accuracy and quality; monitor index queues; maintain scanning equipment.
• Monitor Epic In-basket work queues for MyChart and Release of Information; PAT queues in OnBase.
• Ensure accuracy of demographic information and state registry-related updates.
• Analyze documentation and assign physician deficiencies to ensure timely completion.
• Provide guidance to physicians/providers for deficiency completion.
• Validate accuracy of physician deficiencies and notify physicians for suspension when needed.
• Monitor completion of medical records and issue suspension letters for delinquent charts.
• Validate interfaces and report discrepancies.
• Assist with tracking unbilled accounts and troubleshoot billing data in systems.
• Reconcile paper records with census data; maintain storage and destruction processes.
• Perform final quality control review of paper documents prior to destruction.
• Ensure workflow to audit queues and participate in quality audits.
• Disclose patient information per regulations to appropriate parties.
