Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking an HIM Specialist I to support day-to-day HIM operations across multiple hospitals. You will process and route documents, index scans, validate demographics, and ensure PHI protections under HIPAA/HITECH policies.

The role emphasizes data integrity, document imaging, birth registry responsibilities, and release of information with meticulous attention to regulatory requirements. A strong team environment and onsite work at Bayfront area are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Typing at least 30 wpm.
• Basic proficiency with Windows OS.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 apps.
• Medical Terminology knowledge preferred or within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain integrity of Master Patient Index and resolve duplicates.
• Index, scan, and file patient documents with quality checks.
• Handle birth registry data and state mandated elements.
• Perform or coordinate release of information with HIPAA compliance.
• Support HIM team with data entry and workflow management.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Typing speed 30 words per minute

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Windows

Basic proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Medical Terminology preferred or within 1 year of hire
