Job summary

The State of Indiana, through INDOT, is seeking a highway technician for the Crawfordsville District. The role installs, repairs and refreshes highway signage and markings, performs snow and ice removal, and supports maintenance operations.

A Class A or B CDL is required (or obtained within 90 days). The district offers a competitive pay rate with CDL bonus opportunities and onsite CDL training.

Qualifications

• CDL required or obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow technical documents.
• Ability to lead a crew in the field.
• Ability to endure exposure to inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Comply with INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance and traffic equipment to maintain roads.
• Ensure staff complete work and report issues to supervisors.
• Communicate with contractors to ensure INDOT standards.
• Perform winter operations including snow and ice removal.
• Inspect and perform routine equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain, repair and install traffic signs and markings.
• Respond to emergencies with traffic control and barricades.
• Attend daily worksite as required.
