Job summary

The State of Indiana, through its INDOT Fowler Unit, is hiring for a highway maintenance technician. You will perform snow and ice removal, traffic sign and pavement marking work, and related maintenance to keep INDOT assets in good condition.

A CDL is required and CDL training is provided if needed. Responsibilities include operating equipment, loading supplies, and performing inspections while complying with safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one within 90 days.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing, and walking for long periods.
• Must be able to endure exposure to inclement weather.
• Ability to operate specialty traffic equipment (e.g. bucket trucks, paint equipment).

Responsibilities

• Comply with all INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance/traffic equipment to maintain, repair and clean highways and rights-of-way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Perform winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.
• Perform emergency response activities such as traffic control and signage setup.
• Perform regular inspections and basic equipment maintenance.
